Review of Digital Realty (Woking)

The Digital Realty data centre is located on the Goldsworth Trading Estate, just west of Woking town centre. It is about 10 minutes from Junction 3 of the M3 and Junction 11 of the M25. As such, it is ideally placed to service data-centre clients from Surrey or Hampshire, or any business close to the M3 corridor. It is also perfectly suited to clients with London-based data-centre services seeking diversity by using facilities located outside of the M25.

The 12-acre site has 2 x 132 kVA transformers dominating the car park. The centre’s 200,000 sq ft of net tech is supported by a bank of external generators. Each cabinet in the data centre benefits from 2N power supplies, ensuring that complete failover of a full power string is possible. This is a high-quality facility, built and operated to exacting standards by an established and proven wholesale operator. Digital Realty focuses on the needs of demanding, large-scale tenants – many of whom are carriers, or from financial services or the public sector.

Site security is a particular feature here. This is primarily driven by the needs of some public-sector customers and the financial-trading tenants (whose needs are similar). The site is surrounded by 4-metre SEAP-3-rated perimeter fencing, trembler alarms, cameras and car traps. Inside, swipe cards give access to specific customer areas. We are confident the site will pass the most demanding security audit and we will be pleased to work with any customer seeking to undertake this.

Network choice is available from a number of major national carriers including Abovenet/Zayo, BT, COLT, Easynet, Virgin Media, Interoute, Verizon, AT&T, Level3 and SSE. There are two carrier meet-me rooms and diverse site ducts.
