Cloud connectivity drives Crosspoint expansion into new data centres

Crosspoint is expanding into Global Switch London East and DRT Sovereign House this week, primarily due to increasing interest in direct connections to the large cloud platforms available there.

Crosspoint is pleased to announce the latest deployment of our secure, dedicated quarter and half rack colocation services, this time into Global Switch’s huge London East data centre and DRT’s long established Sovereign House.

Crosspoint has been up and running in Global Switch London North for a couple of years now, but our latest installation, which went live this week, was driven by an overseas carrier needing a point of presence to establish a Google Cloud Dedicated Interconnect, as Global Switch London East is a Google Edge point-of-presence, thus only a short and easily arranged cross-connect away from our cabinet.

Crosspoint’s quarter cabinets offer highly secure and cost effective small-scale points of presence in key London colocation ecosystems. Direct connections onto the various cloud platforms in London is a growing part of Crosspoint’s business, a new market from our traditional ISP and carrier customers who have historically been attracted to established sites like Telehouse or Telecity HEX (now Equinix LD8) to interconnect with other carriers, networks and peering exchanges’s such as LINX.

Two other cloud interconnection points in London and available via Crosspoint include Equinix’s LD4/5/6 campus in Slough, where again Crosspoint has been operating for a few years now and clients can directly connect onto AWS Direct Connect, Azure Express Route and a second London site for Google Cloud Edge. On the other hand what is now DRT’s Sovereign House (formerly Telecity SOV of course) is also a popular location for connecting onto AWS Direct Connect.  Crosspoint’s new quarter rack cabinet is being installed in SOV today.

Besides offering small-scale colocation services in these key colocation ecosystems Crosspoint can also offer data centre interconnects between all our London data centres, at either 1 or 10Gbs.

The Crosspoint team is very experienced in finding the best solution for our customers across our portfolio of thirteen London colocation ecosystems. Our current list of facilities comprises Telehouse North, East, West and North Two; Telecity HEX/Equinix LD8; Volta Farringdon; Equinix LD4/5/6; Everest Reading; Global Switch London 1/North and 2/East; and DRT Sovereign House.
